Of course, there are other types of skin cancer besides melanoma, and although not as deadly, it is wise to know the warning signs of these as well. Perform a regular head-to-toe self-examination and look for these red flags:
- Basal cell: Pearly or waxy bumps; flat flesh- or brown-colored scar-like lesions
- Squamous cell: Firm red nodules; flat lesions with scaly, crusty surfaces
