Bodybuilders everywhere will be heading to our city to show off their incredible physiques. The 2015 IFBB/NPC Fort Lauderdale Cup is October 17, complete with pro-bikini competitions all day long. Of course, if you’ve just had a baby, the last thing you want to be reminded of is someone else’s six pack abs in comparison to your post pregnancy baby bump! If your leftover baby fat is bringing you down, take heart—you don’t have to be a professional bodybuilder to get your abs back. In fact, you don’t even have to put down your baby.
Check out these mommy and me exercises you can do with your baby to get some fitness in and tone your tummy again. Hey, your little bundle of joy helped you get that bump, the least your baby can do is help you get rid of it too!
Sit on the ground with knees bent and toes tucked under the sofa. Rest baby on your thighs facing you, holding securely, then proceed to do some crunches. We recommend making funny faces while you’re at it.
Unhook your toes bringing lower legs up and parallel to the ground. Hold baby on your shins facing you, then gently tilt your hips off the floor, bringing your knees toward your chest, while bringing your head and shoulders up to meet them. This is a great time to sneak in some kisses.
Now sit cross-legged and lift baby up over your head then back down and repeat. You can also stand with your back against a wall holding baby against your chest. Slowly bend knees and squat using wall as support and keeping core tight, then slowly raise back up. Repeat.
Now get on all fours with baby lying face up by your arms and do the cat stretch—sound effects encouraged. Finally, stand with legs apart over baby and bend forward tickling those precious little piggies just for giggles.
Of course, sometimes your baby bump, and other post pregnancy problem areas, need some extra help besides diet and exercise. In that case, give Dr. Lisa J.
