Tips for Finding Fashions that Flatter

Get into the holiday spirit by joining in on the Tour de Lights Family Fun Ride & Moonlight Movie in the Park. Dress up your bike (and yourself) in holiday cheer, then tour the town and end up at Hardy Park to watch the movie “Elf.” If it all sounds like fun except the “dress yourself” part, not to worry! We’ve got fashion tips for finding the right clothes to fit your frame and flatter your figure no matter what your body type. Check it out:

IChoosing Flattering Clothesf you’re bigger around the middle, you’ll want to steer clear of high-waist or belted styles that call attention to your tummy. Instead, choose clothing that is loose around your midsection and snug everywhere else. Pair a tunic with slim-fit pants or a short skirt and you’ll look fabulous!

Bigger on the bottom?  Dark, wide pants, solid A-line skirts, short jackets, and tops that are light or have ruffles or collars are your best bet. Avoid oversized sweaters and clingy skirts—and say no to skinny jeans!

If you happen to have a lot of curves, opt for wrap-around and fitted dresses, pencil skirts, and straight jeans. Stay away from anything baggy and shapeless.

If you’re the opposite of curvy, tops with detailed, scooped, or v-necks can create curves (especially if you invest in a good bra!). Belts are also your friend as are flared skirts and pants, and long jackets.

It’s not a one size fits all world, because we’re not all one size! Knowing how to find flattering clothes for your body type can boost your appearance, and in turn your confidence. Sure, there may still parts of your body that you don’t like no matter what you wear, but that’s okay. Dr. Lisa J. Learn can help with that. Procedures like tummy tucks, liposuction, breast enlargements, lifts, and reductions can all help you achieve a positive body image.
